Vasectomy Reversal Recovery

Vasectomy reversal recovery is fairly basic and similar to that of a vasectomy itself in many ways. Here are some of the things you might experience and have to do as you recover:

  • Soreness and bleeding

  • Drain is removed the following day

  • Must wear scrotal support for two days

  • No showering for two days

  • After scrotal support, an athletic supporter is worn, all the time, for 10 days

  • The dressing will have to be changed regularly and a follow-up visit to the doctor is required if the procedure is done as an outpatient service.

  • Return to work no earlier than the 4th day after the procedure

In addition to the aforementioned, the following is also recommended:

  • Avoid lifting and any other strenuous activities for one week following the procedure

  • Limit walking for at least two days after the procedure

It is important to follow the doctor's instructions carefully as to not hinder the chance of a successful vasectomy reversal.
